INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Tempa•DOT®
- Open the package, fold along perforation, and tear off a single thermometer strip. Peel back the top of the wrapper and remove the thermometer by pulling on the exposed handle.
- Insert the thermometer into the patient’s mouth (oral use) and place under the tongue as far back as possible into either side heat pocket (as you would any oral thermometer). The dots can face either up or down.
Reminder: be sure to wait at least 15 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking.
You may also place the thermometer under the patent’s arm (axilla use), high in the axilla, be sure to place the dot matrix towards the patient’s body, so it’s touching the torso, not the inside of the arm.
- Oral use: Have the patient press their tongue down on the thermometer while keeping their mouth closed for 1 minute.
Axillary use: Have the patient close their arm to keep the thermometer in place and wait 3 minutes. - Remove the thermometer and wait 10 seconds for dots to lock in for accuracy. Then read the temperature. The last blue dot on the matrix indicates the correct temperature.
- The temperature will permanently lock. Once you have read and recorded the temperature, discard the thermometer.
